The Toaster

As I mentioned before, Rob and I decided to buy another vehicle. We always thought the Honda Element was UGLY! So ugly. But we just happened to start looking into them. After test driving it we loved it! We really wanted an orange or green one but only black was offered in our price range. They don't seem so ugly anymore. And I can tell you after a summer full of camping trips and long drives in the canyon, we LOVE this car. It fits everything we ever need, including the kitchen sink! I think we are going to be very happy with this purchase.

Old Honda

Rob and I decided we needed a second car. While looking for a car to buy we saw this old Honda in the showroom at a dealership. Rob laughed because he said his dad drove one just like this one when he was younger. I think that color is horrible. How funny the dealership would put that on display in their show room. It's crazy how old things can be so entertaining. While Rob and I were in Louisiana we loved going to the antique shops. They have way better antiques there than can be found in Utah! I remember being floored by the prices listed in a JCPenny catalog one of the shops had. Now I don't know why someone would want to buy the catalog but it was crazy to see all the things they had in the catalog and the prices listed. I am sure those prices seemed so expensive when the catalog was brand new.

Family Summer Visit

My brother Randy and his family came to visit this summer. We always love to see them! He has the cutest little girls. They are definitely independent. My mother says I have been independent since I was 2. I guess it's just in the family. We had fun jumping on the trampoline, playing spooky ghost games, listening to all their stories, watching cartoons, reading bedtime stories to them, and much, much more! They are so much fun! We also love playing with our other nieces and nephews. They are so silly. It makes you appreciate family that much more.
As you can see, the grandchildren really look up to their grandpa. If Rob and I ever have kids, I hope they look up to my parents like I did growing up. They are full of knowledge. I am still constantly asking them for advice and knowledge on all sorts of topics. Aren't parents great!

One Of The Many Things I Learned From Steven...

I was training to run the 5K on July 4th in Layton city. My brother Steven was showing me good stretches to do before the run. He is pretty much the only runner I know. My parents and I used to go to all his races when he was in high school. I can learn a lot from my siblings!

Michael Jackson

A radio announcer yesterday said that everyone will remember where they were when they heard Michael Jackson died. The co-announcer said, "Well ya, it was yesterday." It was only a couple of days ago but I do think I will always remember where I was when Rob told me Michael Jackson had died. He is a legend. For better or worse the whole world know who he is. I told Rob I would be interested in knowing how long it took at least one person in every city to know Michael Jackson was dead. I say about a half hour or less. With the internet news travels fast! I didn't really know who Michael Jackson was until I met Rob. I am sure I heard his music but I have never been very good with identifying people with the movies they are in or the songs they sing. I'm getting better. Michael Jackson had some really good music. He also had some really weird music. But there are a few songs Rob and I still dance to when having a romantic dinner together. I admit he really struggled personally and I feel bad for him that he could really figure things out. I think most people would agree that he needed to NOT have any plastic surgery. He looked WAY better black then white. They talked a lot on the TV about how much he was in debt. How does someone get millions of dollars in debt? Seriously? Maybe people didn't look at his credit when giving him a loan or something. They just said, "Oh you are Michael Jackson. Here is a million dollars. Pay me back when you can." That just boggles my mind. But despite all his struggles he produced some good music. My children will know his music. And just think, he will now be able to know the truth and maybe finally be able to figure things out once and for all. Thanks for the music Michael Jackson!

No Doubt - Paramore Concert!

Rob and I had the chance to go to a No Doubt - Paramore concert. They played at the ECenter which, in my opion, is a great venue. We also like going to concerts at the Usana Ampa Theater. When we got to the concert I was completely surprised. Our seats were right next to one of my high school friends who I haven't talked to since I graduated. I guess we really needed to get back in touch. It was great to see her. The concert actually had three bands play. The first band was called "The Sound". Rob and I had never heard of them before. They had a pretty good sound but almost every other word was the "F" word so it cheapened their music. Isn't that sad that bands don't have enough imagination to come up with lyrics without a bunch of "F" words? I mean, come on! That was the only lame part of the whole night.

The next band to play was Paramore. For all you Twilight fans out there you know who Paramore is. For those who aren't as addicted to Twilight as I am they are a new band. I'm actually not sure how "new" they are, but I think they really made their break by playing in the Twilight movie. They were very entertaining. I know we would go to a concert if they were the main band playing. They were that good! And I have to admit, I am jealous of Hayley's (main singer chick) hair! I would love to have the guts to dye my hair bright red. Who knows, maybe someday. I'm not sure I could pull it off though. But I think she looks great with red hair. If you get the chance to see Paramore in concert I would highly recommend them. Sometimes Rob and I wonder if we should go to a concert because we really like the music but are afraid of what kind of crowd it would bring. This crowd was good so we were happy about that.

The main and last band to play was No Doubt. No Doubt has been around for a very long time but I didn't really know anything about them until I met Rob. He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES No Doubt. They were awesome! Between Paramore and No Doubt I didn't have much of a voice the next day. Gwen (main singer chick) is also very entertaining. She even had a little girl come up on stage with her. Hugged her, took pictures with her, and probably made that little girls year! She also brought her 2 year old son up on stage and had us sing Happy Birthday to him. At first he had sound proof head phones on and when Gwen took them off so he could hear us singing I think it was too loud for him because he wanted her to put them right back on. He is super cute. And man, Gwen doesn't look like she has any kids. She is in great shape. The only really strange part was the drummer. He was freakin' me out. For the last few songs he came out in a tutu. That's right a pink tutu. I have heard it takes a REAL man to wear pink but that is taking it the extreme! Rob and I try to be open minded but that was just a little too weird for me. Overall the concert was excellent and we will definately go again if we have the chance!

Thinking Things Though

Today on the way to work Rob and I saw a car with a "Y" on it for the BYU college. After taking a second look at the sticker we had to laugh because they had positioned the sticker right on top of one of their rear brake lights. So when the car brakes, red lights come through their blue colored school. I'm not sure they really thought that through before they put the sticker on. Kind of funny though!

Books On CD

For the longest time I always felt bad when people would talk about all the books they were reading and I could never join in the conversation. I just never had time to sit down and read a book. My life is too crazy busy for that. So I slowly started to listen to the books on CD. And I absolutely love it! Now I finally feel like I can join in the conversation. The other thing is sometimes I get great ideas from the books. Rob has been having some trouble with his 11 year old boy primary class. Well I recently listened to a book where it talked about going into the classroom with a bag full of licorice. Once the kids have settled down enough you tell them that you would like to teach them a lesson but if they start to talk and you get board because you can't teach them the lesson then you will start to eat the licorice. If they listen and participate in the class then you won't get board and eat all the licorice and then there will be enough left at the end of class for everyone. But if they talk a ton then you continue to each the licorice and there probably won't be enough left for everyone at the end of class. Rob hasn't tried it yet but I will let you know how it goes. Some of the books I get are a little crazy and some are very interesting. It is kind of just the luck of the draw right now. I learned a ton more about he Spanish Influenza in one book. Well anyway, I would have to say I am a big fan of books on CD.

The Mom Song

I'm not sure where Rob got this but I think it is super funny!

Maggie

This is the newest member of our family. Rob and I made the fatal mistake of going into PetSmart on Saturday. We saw Maggie and obviously couldn't leave without her. We rescued her from the Animal Humane Society or something like that. She has adjusted quickly to our little family. However, we are used to a lazy dog (Cody) and Maggie is nothing but lazy. I think we just bought our form of exercise for this year. But we love her! Cody really liked her in the store but once we got her home he wasn't sure he wanted to share his mommy and daddy with any other doggie. But as you can see they are also adjusting to each other. This little family teaches us patients which I know will come in handy when we finally start having kids.

Have You Seen That Sky Today?

When I saw this picture Rob took I thought about Kronk on Emperor's New Groove. If you haven't seen it you won't understand this post. Anyway, I thought of when Kronk says "Have you seen that sky today? Take about blue." Haha!

Artichokes

My mom used to always cook artichokes for dinner and I LOVED them! Rob said he thought they were gross but said he had not had them in awhile. So I told Rob he needed to try it my way. Or I guess my mom's way. Now I am not sure how you eat artichokes in your family but my mom always dipped them in mayonnaise. Other people like dipping the piece in lemon butter. As you can tell by the pictures Rob wasn't too thrilled with the way my family dipped artichokes. He tried butter after this shot and said it wasn't too bad. But I have a feeling we won't be having artichokes very often in our house.

What A Mess

I was trying to make myself some oatmeal for breakfast. I guess I should have used a bigger bowl! Oops!

Rob's Favorite Candy

Obviously I am making up for lost time. Sorry everybody. Rob's absolute favorite candy is conversation hearts. I have maybe 10 and that is good for a year. But Rob never gets tired of eating them. He decided to share his favorite candy with me in a way that would appeal to me more. And it did!

I LOVE WOOT.COM

I LOVE woot.com! Today's t-shirt for sale is entitled "They Were Delicious!" They always have amazing deals and funny t-shirts. The only bad thing about woot.com is Rob and I don't have money to spend of extra stuff and it is always hard to walk away from an amazing deal. However, we have done a great job of not buying anything on woot.com for awhile now. We just look. Hopefully we will get to point where we can participate in the amazing deals! :)

Cave House For Sale

Check out the two links I have below. The first one is way cheaper then the second one but the second link is more beautiful. The first one I saw on the news so I went looking for the ebay page. Who knew there would be more then one person trying to sell their cave house? And who knew there would be more then one in existence. Even if I did have the money I don't think I could live in a cave but it is fun the think about. Enjoy!

New Business - Oh Sew Lovable

Check out our new business!  Rob and I have been working hard this week to post all the blankets I have made on the internet to sell.  Rob is still in the process of posting all the blankets that are done and ready but you are welcome to go see what we have posted up there so far.  The link is http://ohsewlovable.etsy.com.  You wouldn't believe how much work it is to get this project off the ground but we are hopeful that it will be successful.  Oh and I can't take credit for the name either.  Rob is very clever and thought of the name.  I don't know what I would do without him!  Let us know what you think!

Bangs

I decided to try something new with my hair. I didn't feel like Rob and I loosing our jobs was enough change for me. Haha! I actually hate change, just ask Rob. However, I have been thinking about cutting myself some bangs for awhile now so one day I just did it. It took me awhile to get used to them. It was a shock for sure! Rob really likes them though so that helped with the shock. Anyway, I just thought I would share. Rob and I are also starting up a new business for me. More details to come soon...

Weather Maddness

Yesterday the weather in Layton was crazy. It snowed really heavily for about four hours. Rob had to snow blow twice because the snow was so heavy it would have broken our snow blower to wait until the snow was done falling. Then at about 8 last night the power went out for awhile. Usually the power goes out at least twice in the winter months but quickly comes back on. Last night it took awhile for the power to come back on. It was kind of nice though. Rob and I enjoyed each others company while just sitting in the dark. I am glad the power is back on today.

Proof I Have A Great Husband

You are probably squinting your eyes and asking yourself "What is that?" Well last Saturday I was trying to paint my fingernails and accidentally yes accidentally lost my grip on the bottle of pinkish red fingernail polish and it dropped all over our white carpet downstairs. The first couple of things both Rob and I thought were first of all that is made a really cool design and second that it must have been an accident because if I were trying to do it on purpose I would have targeted our pink or blue carpet upstairs. I really thought Rob would be mad at me but he wasn't. He just told me to go get some heavy duty cleaner from upstairs and he spent the next two hours scrubbing the polish out of the carpet. You can still see a hint of the pink color on the white carpet but for the most part the polish is gone. This is just more proof of how great my husband is. He knew exactly what kind of cleaner to use and he didn't get mad at me at all. I owe him big for this one.

Fallen Cake

I'm not sure if you can tell but somehow my cake fell in the center. When I took it out of the oven it was beautiful and plump. Fifteen minutes later when I came to put the icing on it had fallen. Shrug. Luckily it still tasted the same and I was only making it for Rob and I so it wasn't a big deal. I just hate when that happens.

Silly Rabbit

Rob saw this picture on the internet and I had to share it with all of you. I think it is super funny!

Early Morning Date

I don't think I mention enough how great my Rob is. This morning I woke up really early craving donuts. No I am not pregnant. You can have cravings without being pregnant. I know, I have them all the time. When I say early I mean 4:30 this morning. After trying to wake Rob up for a half hour he finally agreed to take me somewhere to get donuts. What a great guy! We drove passed four different grocery stores and none of them were open. I could have sworn all the grocery stores we tried were open 24/7 but I guess not. We finally ended up at Macy's in Clearfield around 5:30 and decided to wait the half hour until they opened. They have the BEST whipped maple donuts ever! If you've never tried them you are surely missing out. It was definitely an impromptu date but even that early in the morning Rob is fun to be with! I am so lucky to have him in my life.

Twilight Fad

I decided to start listening to the Twilight books on CD. I figured I would see what all the fuss was about. My nieces all say the books are awesome. So I figured I would give the books a chance. Well, after listening to the first book I think this tale is great. I can see why my nieces really like it. It is a twisted romance. Some people say it is inappropriate to read but I have never really listened to any ones opinions. I try and come to my own conclusions. It is nice to listen to a book on CD while I am working on home improvements. The line in the picture is one of the most romantic lines I have ever heard. However, you have to listen or know about the books to know what it really means. I talk to Rob about the books. I like the Twilight books as much as the Harry Potter books! They are very entertaining.

The Amazing Birthday Cake

My niece was having her first birthday and Rob's sister has a lot of in-laws so she called and asked if he would make a cake to feed enough people going to a small wedding. You think I am kidding. There truly were a ton of people there. But that is what family is all about right? Anyway, Rob researched a lot of cake he could make for this birthday party. He absolutely HATES fondant! And even though it goes on cakes really nicely he didn't want to use it. In the end the cake looked and tasted amazing. As you can see from the picture. I didn't have any doubts. My Rob is very talented!

Cody's Look

I don't mean to show tons of pictures of our dog Cody. I hate when people put nothing on their blog but their pets but I had to share this picture with you. This is Cody's "Dad, STOP taking pictures of me!" look. I give Rob a similar look when he takes tons of pictures of me all at once. He loves playing with our camera. And I have to admit, he does get a lot of good pictures.

Sledding Adventure

Last Saturday I went sledding with a few friends. Unfortunately Rob couldn’t go because he was sick. So I went alone. I haven’t been sledding since I took my niece Haliey up to Snowbird a few years ago. Which by the way is super fun. It costs $5 for the whole day and they have a hill set aside so you can go fast but won’t chance falling off the side of the mountain or anything. You should try it sometime. Anyway, Rob bought me an inner tube a while ago and we haven’t had the time to use it. So today was the day. We spent like 15 minutes blowing the thing up. It was a pain but it was worth it. Or so we thought. Little did we know the second yes second time of sledding down the hill I would slide over some ice or something and come to a screeching halt. Not to mention when I turned the tube over there was the biggest hole I have ever seen in a tube. My friends were nice enough to share their tubes with me the rest of the sledding adventure. When I got home, I bought the news to Rob gently. He didn't take it bad at all. He just laughed.

Rob's Train

I have to admit I fell into the act of impulse buying this passed Christmas season. While I was at the Park City outlets looking for amazing day after Thanksgiving deals, my friends and I came across some toy trains. Rob and I have been talking about getting a train to put under the Christmas tree for years and it didn't seem like something that was going to happen in the near future. Then I found this one. The train isn't fancy by all means but as you can see by the look on my cute husband's face he doesn't mind. He got a train for Christmas! However, like so many other people on Christmas day I forgot to by batteries. Poor Rob couldn't play with his train on Christmas. I blame it on the fact that I am not a mother yet and am not used to thinking of having to have batteries on Christmas day. So to make up for my big mistake I went and bought batteries as soon as I woke up the very next day. Rob didn't waste anytime. I am glad he likes it so much! Merry Christmas Rob!
